Anointing is not only for the final hours. It is also for someone who is seriously ill, someone going into surgery, and for older people whose strength is failing.
Many families wait too long because they believe it is a rite of farewell. If you are unsure whether it is time, call and ask. Asking commits you to nothing.
We can also come to the home or the hospital
If the person who is ill cannot come to the church, tell us when you call. The parish also brings Communion to the sick at home.
What is the Anointing of the Sick?
By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests, the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them.
